Cascadia Dreams DATE: Saturday, October 20 TIME: 7:30 AGES: ALL AGES TICKETS: $20 WEB: https://www.jansenartcenter.org/events/cascadia-dreams/ Celebrate the sublime landscapes of the Pacific Northwest at Cascadia Dreams, at the Jansen Art Center on Saturday, October 20 at 7:30 PM. Cascadia Dreams is a multimedia presentation featuring stunning images and mesmerizing video of our local mountains, rivers, beaches and the Salish Sea, accompanied by a live performance by Native American flute master Gary Stroutsos. This special presentation highlights the passionate photography of John D’Onofrio and Lance Ekhart (with additional time-lapse video by Brett Baunton) in an elegiac tapestry of sight and sound that includes new images and video as well as a newly recorded backing score by some of the Pacific Northwest’s most innovative musicians. Stroutsos will introduce the presentation with a solo performance and storytelling, drawing on his decades of immersion in native cultures. A reception with the artists will follow the performance. ABOUT THE ARTISTS: Gary Stroutsos is a world-class musician and recording artist who has performed around the globe (including a performance at the White House), playing traditional indigenous music, jazz and his own flute meditations. Mentored by jazz icon Paul Horn, his evocative flute can be heard on many recordings and is featured on the Ken Burns documentary, Lewis and Clark: Journey of the Corps of Discovery and on the PBS Documentary, Desert Dreams. John D’Onofrio is a photographer and writer and the publisher/editor of Adventures NW Magazine. His photography has been published in numerous books, magazines and calendars, been featured on the ABC and NBC television networks, presented by the National Park Service and the National Parks Foundation, and exhibited in galleries and museums around the United States. Lance Ekhart’s photography of the Salish Sea has been widely exhibited and published. His current multimedia project, The Eye of the Heron is an intimate look at the life cycle of the herons of Skagit County. Lance is the captain of Elenoa, a sailboat that is also his home and spends much of his time exploring the Salish Sea and points beyond. Brett Baunton‘s images have appeared in National Geographic, Audubon, Alaska, Backpacker and Sierra magazines. His photographs have been used by Mt. Baker National Forest, Denali, Grand Canyon and North Cascades National Parks. Tickets for the event are $20 and available at the Jansen Art Center Gallery Shop or online at jansenartcenter.org.
